Georgia Republicans are working hard to expand their ability to legally steal private property.

    -- 01/29/05

Governor Perdue,
Lt Governor Taylor,
Other Georgia State leaders,
Gwinnett County Commissions,

I agree with my friend Paul Young.

Republicans, especially at the national level; have become embolden, and are showing their true colors. Democrats are probably in awe of how far down the field Republicans have advanced their socialist plunder, murder, and mayhem.

Paul Craig Roberts – “It has begun to dawn on the formerly Grand Old Party that a bloodless coup has occurred and that Republicans have lost their party to Jacobins, who cloak themselves under the term "neoconservatives." They sincerely believe that they have a monopoly on virtue and the obligation to impose US virtue on the rest of the world. This Jacobin program requires the supremacy of executive power and is dependent on an unwarranted belief in the efficacy of force.”

You swore to protect the Georgia Constitution. It gives you the power to protect our lives, liberty, and property. It does not give you the power to plunder or ingratiate favorite charities or constituents. When you, and the state government you lead; do these things, you are on the wrong side of justice.

Please use your power and leadership for good. Just law must always be limited to only those things that an individual can legally do. Anything else is unjust. Evil cannot be fought with evil; and you cannot avoid the responsibility you swore to uphold.

Sincerely,

Wes Alexander

Mr. Mitch Seabaugh:

I wish I could share your enthusiasm for the 2005 General Assembly session. However, I have grave concern over several bills.

  • Can you explain why you are co-sponsoring State Bill 5 "Georgia Public-Private Infrastructure Act? Why do you support private developers using the guise of "public-private projects" to simply usurp the private property rights of our citizens? Why should a private developer use the power of the state to prevent a private property owner from maximizing their financial profit? I thought Republicans stood firm to defend free enterprise and the right of citizens to profit from their hard work and investments. Please explain how this bill is in adherence with this basic platform and principle of Republicans everywhere?

  • Do you intend to support State Bill 9 "Georgia Smokefree Air Act of 2005" again this year? I see your fellow Republican (Thomas) sees fit to infringe on private business owners and their patrons by banning smoking. Please explain why the state government has the right to do this? I do not smoke, never have. I would not patron an establishment that did not maintain a separate non-smoking section. However, I do not see how it is the business of state government to interfere with a private business and its patrons from participating in a perfectly legal practice. If your fellow senators are so concerned about the health and welfare of its citizens, why don't you make cigarettes illegal? Why don't you ban restaurants from serving fattening foods? Why not ban bars from serving alcohol?

I am a lifelong Republican, but I must share my disappointment and frustration with the GOP. While the Democratic fringe continues to move evermore to the left, you and your colleagues seem hell bent to follow them.

I would rather you and your colleagues spend your efforts to dismantle the oppressive regulation, restrictions, and taxation of the state government instead of increasing it.

Respectfully,

Paul Young
